Victory Pro Wrestling crossed state lines for the first time to perform in Portland Connecticut and the crowd in attendance was ready for all the action.

VPW owner John Radioo welcomed the fans to the Riverfront Rumble and introduced them to the coordinator for A Fight for Cancer, Portland CT, Naji Chester-Payne.

Chester-Payne talked about why he put this event together with VPW, to help raise awareness and fight cancer after losing his mother earlier in the year. He then asked for a moment of silence to honor those affected by cancer.

ICYMI: Results from VPW 153: Homecoming Volume 2 July 16, 2022 https://www.victoryprowrestling.com/icymi-results-from-vpw-153-homecoming-volume-2-july-16-2022/ Sun, 17 Jul 2022 16:30:00 +0000 https://www.victoryprowrestling.com/?p=9522 Victory Pro Wrestling returned to the Sports Arena in St. James, NY for one of the biggest events of the year, Homecoming Vol. 2! The show was to be headlined with Jack Tomlinson’s first title defense as new Victory Pro Wrestling champion against Dan Barry.

To kick off the show, VPW announcer Sam L ’Eterna welcomed the fans and thanked them for coming out. Sam L ‘Eterna introduced the new Victory Pro Wrestling Champion, Jack Tomlinson to the VPW faithful.

Tomlinson made his way out to the ring and the crowd was firmly behind him. Tomlinson told the fans that the best part about him winning the Victory Pro Wrestling Championship was that it meant the fans won the Victory Pro Wrestling Championship as well.

Mike Anthony interrupted Jack Tomlinson and wasted no time in getting his point across. Anthony tells Tomlinson he is tired of Jack ducking him. In Anthony’s mind, he won the King of New York and is angry Dan Barry was given a Victory Pro Wrestling Championship match over him.

Dan Barry was next to make his way out to the ring. Barry says that he is a 17-time champion, and one more would be coming his way. Anthony attacks Tomlinson from behind with a chair taking out his leg. Anthony trapped Tomlinson’s leg in a chair and unloaded on it with a chair of his own.

Dan Barry would come down to make the save. VPW referees and the medical team came to assist, and senior official Steven Dumeng would then tell Barry that Tomlinson can’t compete tonight. This made Dan Barry angry, but he had a new goal in mind. Barry challenged Mike Anthony to a no disqualification match in the main event, which was made official.

PERCY RYAN vs. PHIL CARDIGAN

The match starts with some good, back-and-forth wrestling by both men. Percy Ryan would quickly take out Phil Cardigan with a big move of his own to gain control in the early part of this match. Cardigan would fight back into the match and make his way to the top rope.

Unfortunate for Cardigan, he would get distracted by Francis Kip Stevens and Filipinot Grigio both screaming “YES!” and “NO!” at him. This would allow Percy Ryan to gain the upper hand again. Cardigan would try to fight back, but to no avail. Ryan does a good job at targeting Cardigan’s leg and stopping any offense Cardigan would try to muster.

Finally, Cardigan was able to knock Ryan out with a kick of his own. This would give Cardigan the opening he needed to drink his coffee. Cardigan fired up and took the fight right back to Percy. Cardigan hits a big move on Ryan and pins him for a very close 2-count.

Cardigan would once again get inadvertently distracted by Francis Kip Stevens and Filipinot Grigio. This time, Ryan would be able to capitalize and hit his finishing move on Cardigan for the three-count.

WINNER: PERCY RYAN

After the match, Francis Kip Stevens and Filipinot Grigio help Cardigan out of the ring and to the back.

Sam L ‘Eterna introduces Johnny Collins and Steve Somerset. Collins says that last month they were screwed by VPW management and are visibly angry.

Collins reiterates that they are better than everyone in the VPW locker room and that they are tired of being screwed by VPW management. Somerset gets on the mic and says that Stephen Azure is so mad he didn’t want to show up tonight.

Ryan Galeone would be introduced as an honorary Pretty Likeable member. Bam Sullivan, Mouse, and Kenny Garcia would make their way down to the ring and a six-man tag team match was announced.

PRETTY LIKEABLE vs. BAM SULLIVAN, MOUSE, KENNY GARCIA

Ryan Galeone starts the match out against Bam Sullivan. Johnny Collins would quickly tag in and go toe-to-toe with Bam Sullivan. Sullivan sent Collins flying twice and quickly took the fight to him. Mouse and Somerset would tag in for their respective teams and Mouse continued his team’s momentum, taking the fight right to Somerset.

Galeone would make the save and take out Mouse while he wasn’t the legal man. This wouldn’t be the only time this would happen in the match. Collins would tag in and continued to beat down Mouse. Mouse would try to fight back but to no avail as Galeone would help keep his team in firm control of the match any chance he could.

Collins would make his way to the top rope and attempt a high-risk move. Fortunately for Mouse, he had enough of his whereabouts to move out of the way. Mouse tagged in Kenny Garcia, while Collins tagged in Somerset. Kenny Garcia came in hot and took out both Somerset and Collins.

Galeone would attempt to make the save, but Kenny Garcia would send him over the top rope and crashing down to the floor. Mouse and Sullivan beat up Somerset and just when it looked like they had the match one, Galeone hit an insane high-risk, flip taking all three members of the other team out.

Ryan Galeone and Johnny Collins hit a chokeslam on Mouse and Collins pins him for the win.

WINNERS: PRETTY LIKEABLE

After the match, Johnny Collins says he has proven he is still a leader and a champion. He says he is going to show Dezmond Cole how to be a champion.

VPW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDERS MATCH: MEGAN MASON vs. GABBY ORTIZ

Megan Mason would make her way to the ring first, followed by Gabby Ortiz. The winner of the match will face VPW Women’s Champion, Valentina Vasquez. The match quickly starts with Ortiz taking the fight to Mason. However, this wouldn’t last long as Mason would quickly go on the offensive.

Mason would beat up on Ortiz more and go for the pin but would get just a two-count. This would just make Mason angry. Ortiz would fight back into the match and hit a big neck breaker for just a two-count.

Megan Mason quickly fights back and hits her finishing move on Gabby Ortiz for the three-count and is the new number one contender to Valentina Vasquez.

WINNER: MEGAN MASON

VPW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDERS MATCH: DR. COOL AND PAT FITZPATRICK VS FILIPINOT GRIGIO AND FRANCIS KIP STEVENS

Francis Kip Stevens and Dr. Cool would start the match for their respective teams. Dr. Cool quickly takes down Kip, but because of his taunting and playing to the crowd, Kip would gain the upper hand. Kip pins Dr. Cool but only gets a two-count.

Kip tags in his partner, and Grigio continues the offensive on both Dr. Cool and Pat Fitzpatrick. Filipinot Grigio would gain the upper hand and use some of his tactics to help him do just that. Grigio tags back in Kip but Kip gets taken out by both Dr. Cool and Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick controlled a good portion of the match. Fitzpatrick tags in Dr. Cool and Dr. Cool continues on the offensive not letting up on Kip. Kip fights back into the match, taking the fight to Dr. Cool. Fitzpatrick saves Dr. Cool, causing Kip to run shoulder first into the ring post.

After more beating up on Kip, he is finally able to fight back into the match and make the big tag on Filipinot Grigio. Grigio makes his way into the match and takes out both members of the other team. However, they don’t stay down for long.

Dr. Cool and Pat Fitzpatrick are able to hit a double-team move on Grigio for a two-count. They call for the magic killer on Grigio, but he counters. Thanks to a distraction, Fitzpatrick is able to roll up Grigio for the three-count in what was a very competitive match.

WINNERS: DR. COOL AND PAT FITZPATRICK

After the match, Cardigan separates Grigio and Kip who are shoving each other in the ring.

Silk E. Smooth makes his way out to the ring accompanying the Infamous Adam Cain. Smooth says that Brother Greatness won’t be here tonight, and that Brother Greatness has no power to make matches. Alvin Alvarez interrupts and says that he and Smooth have a long history and he wants to beat up Adam Cain.

Dante Drago is next to come out and says he has a problem with Alvin Alvarez because his tag-team partner Kaide Lothbrok isn’t here. VPW Commissioner Kevin Fulton makes his way out next and announces a triple threat match.

ADAM CAIN vs. ALVIN ALVAREZ vs. DANTE DRAGO

Drago tries to punch Alvarez to start off the match, but Alvarez counters and lifts Drago in the air. Adam Cain hits Alvin from behind, but to no avail. Alvarez takes the fight to Cain and Drago. Drago is able to hang Alvin up over the top rope and help Cain to subdue Alvarez.

Drago and Cain would beat up on Alvarez for a good portion of the match. Cain uses Drago to beat up Alvarez at times in this match. Drago and Cain begin fighting with each other and this allows Alvarez to regroup. Alvarez takes out both Cain and Drago with a double clothesline.

Alvarez hits a big spinebuster on Drago and pins him. However, the pin gets broken up by Cain. Drago throws Cain over the top rope and onto the floor. Alvarez locks in a sharpshooter on Drago, and Drago tries to fight out of it.

Cain stares at Drago from the outside of the ring and flips him off and leaves. Just when it looks like Alvarez was about to win, two men make their way out to the ring and help Drago. Drago is able to pick up the pinfall victory.

WINNER: DANTE DRAGO

VPW NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONSHIP: DEZMOND COLE (champion) vs. DOMINICK DENARO

Dominick Denaro makes his way out to the ring first, followed by the champion Dezmond Cole. The match starts with a lock-up between the two men. Cole quickly takes the fight to Denaro, causing him to roll outside of the ring to regroup.

The two men face-off again when Denaro makes his way back into the ring. Cole unloads punches on Denaro and takes him down for a one-count. Denaro is able to gain the upper hand when he sends Cole face first into the ring rope.

Denaro does an excellent job and targeting Cole’s arm. Denaro is able to remain in control using his submission offense as he fends off any offense Cole would try to muster up. Cole attempts a pin roll-up for just a two-count.

After taunting for too long, Dominick Denaro gets knocked down by Dezmond Cole. Cole takes the fight back to Denaro and is able to regain control of the match. Cole hits punch, after punch, on Denaro, but Denaro is still able to get some good offense in. Denaro hit a big kick followed by his big move on Cole for just a two-count.

Cole hits his finisher on Denaro for a very close two-count, and the fans are loving this. Cole calls for his finisher one more time, but Denaro is able to lock him in a submission move. Cole is able to escape and hit a Swanton bomb on Denaro to pick up the win.

WINNER: AND STILL VPW NEW YORK STATE CHAMPION, DEZMOND COLE

After the match, Dezmond Cole and Dominick Denaro show a sign of respect to one another and Denaro raises Cole’s hand.

NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH: DAN BARRY vs. MIKE ANTHONY

Mike Anthony makes his way down to the ring first for tonight’s main event. Dan Barry makes his entrance next, and we are off to a fast start. Barry hits a suicide dive onto Mike Anthony out on the floor. Barry would beat up Anthony all around ringside before finally throwing him back into the ring.

Anthony is able to hit a neck breaker through the middle rope on Dan Barry to gain control of the match. Anthony beats up on Barry on the outside, but not for long. Barry throws a chair at Anthony’s head knocking him down. Barry sets up Anthony on the guardrail and hits a flying stomp from the apron to the back of Anthony.

Barry sets up a door at ringside and attempts to put Anthony through it. However, Anthony had other plans. Anthony is able to knock Barry down on the apron and takes the door to put it back under the ring. The match then spills back into the ring and Anthony pins Barry for a two-count.

Anthony goes outside to get the door and sets it up in the corner of the ring. He attempts to throw Barry through the door, but Barry is able to fight out of the move. Barry hits Anthony with a spinning DDT for a two-count.

Barry makes his way to the top rope, but Anthony shoves the referee into the ropes, causing Barry to fall. Anthony spears Barry through the door and pins him for a two-count. Anthony pulls out another door from under the ring and sets it up on the bottom rope inside the ring.

Anthony goes for a superplex on Barry, but Barry counters and hits a stomp through the door on Anthony. Barry pins Anthony but is only able to pick up a two-count. Barry takes out a third door and sets it up in the ring. He attempts to throw Anthony through the door, but Anthony fights out of it.

Anthony heads to the outside to throw some chairs into the ring. Anthony sets up the chairs in the ring and places the door on top of the chairs. Anthony goes to superplex Barry through the table in the center of the ring, but Barry counters and hits a driver of his own on Anthony through the chairs for the pinfall.

WINNER: DAN BARRY

Without the numbers game, can Johnny Collins beat Jack Tomlinson? #JackPack possibly takes on cult-less Collins at VPW Under Pressure June 11 https://www.victoryprowrestling.com/without-the-numbers-game-can-johnny-collins-beat-jack-tomlinson-jackpack-possibly-takes-on-cult-less-collins-at-vpw-under-pressure-june-11/ Mon, 06 Jun 2022 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.victoryprowrestling.com/?p=9370 At VPW Under Pressure, The Even Stevens must successfully retain the VPW Tag Team Championship against [insert team here] in order for them to be able to be at ringside for the main event – Victory Pro Wrestling champion Johnny Collins against Jack Tomlinson.

This is because at VPW Power Grab, the Even Stevens once again got involved in the main event, costing Tomlinson the win and helping Collins retain the championship.

VPW Commissioner Kevin Fulton, a big fan of the Even Stevens, surprised the fans when he unleashed his edict – at Under Pressure, the Even Stevens will defend the VPW Tag Team Championships against a team of Fulton’s discretion. The stipulation is that if they lose the championships, then the Even Stevens will be banned from the building as Collins faces Tomlinson later in the evening.

Speculation as to who Fulton will chose as the challengers were fueled immediately when different tag teams reached out to VPW Management. One team made a public plea on social media: The SAT.

Joel and Wil Maximo – the Spanish Announce Team – have been making a resurgence in tag team wrestling, capturing championships and making noise wherever they go. Indirectly, they made an impact in VPW years ago in the early days of the tag team division – and again with the training and developing of former Impact star and their cousin Amazing Red, who put classics together against some of VPW’s top stars.

The SAT participated in the first VPW Tag Team Championship Tournament in 2008, with Joel and Jose Maximo. Wil and Joel have brought back live to the team, and to tag team wrestling.

But are they the team Fulton is bringing in? The Commissioner has not responded to VictoryProWrestling.com for comment.

While this is not the first time Tomlinson met Collins – Jack and Johnny met for the first time at VPW Homecoming last year, and again at VPW Power Grab – it would be the first time they met without anyone to help Collins… if the Even Stevens lose their match.

On paper, Jack Tomlinson wins the Victory Pro Wrestling championship if the Even Stevens are banned from ringside.

“THE THROWBACK” ERIC JAMES vs MIKE ANTHONY

Eric James made his way down to the ring to open the show. He praised the crowd and the locker room saying that there’s not a whole lot left for him to do at Victory Pro Wrestling. Mike Anthony interrupts him and tells James that he knows that James is the guy in VPW. Anthony challenges James to a match to prove that he will be the guy in Victory Pro Wrestling after beating Eric James.

The match starts off with a lock-up between the two men. After some chain wrestling and a feeling-out process of sorts, Anthony was able to gain the upper hand briefly. James, however, would hit a cross-body from the top rope and pin Anthony for a two-count. James followed this up with a drop kick, sending Anthony to the outside.

James attempts a suicide dive, but Anthony is able to stop him in his tracks. Anthony hangs James up on the middle rope and regains control in this match. Anthony beats up on James for a good portion of the match. Every time James tried to counter, Anthony was one step ahead.

The two men start exchanging punches in the ring, which ends with James gaining the upper hand. James makes his way to the top rope, but Anthony meets him up there. Anthony hits a superplex from the top rope onto James and the two crash and burn in the ring. After distracting the referee, Anthony low-blows James and rolls him up to pin him for the victory.

WINNER: MIKE ANTHONY

Valentina Vasquez made her way down to the ring first, she was followed by Anastasia Morningstar, who made her entrance next. The match starts off with Morningstar telling Vasquez the championship is coming home with her. The two women then lock-up.

Vasquez quickly gains the upper hand on Morningstar, showing why she is the woman to beat in Victory Pro Wrestling. However, when the fight spills to the outside, Morningstar slams Vasquez on the ring apron, and gains control of the match.

Morningstar continues to beat up on Vasquez with slaps to the chest, followed by a suplex. The match is majorly in Morningstar’s favor and it looks like an uphill battle for Vasquez to get back into the match. However, Vasquez is able to fight back and take Morningstar off her feet.

Morningstar is able to hit a massive sit-down powerbomb on the Victory Pro Wrestling women’s champion and pins her for just a two-count. Vasquez is able to dig down deep and hit Morningstar with a swinging neckbreaker and pin her to retain her Women’s Championship

DR. COOL AND PAT FITZPATRICK VS
“KING OF NEW YORK” PHIL CARDIGAN AND FRANCIS KIP STEVENS

After both teams make their way to the ring, the fans are firmly behind the team of Cardigan and Kip. “Long live the king” chants take over the arena. After some funny antics by Cardigan, he starts the match out with Fitzpatrick. The two lock-up and have a feeling-out process early on.

Kip gives Cardigan his goggles, and Cardigan wears them while beating up on Fitzpatrick. He ties Fitzpatrick into a knot in the middle of the ring, and quickly gains the upper hand. Fitzpatrick is able to tag in Dr. Cool and Dr. Cool makes his way into the match.

Cardigan puts his goggles on Dr. Cool blinding him with his own hair. While blinded, Dr. Cool rolls up the referee, and Cardigan counts to three. Dr. Cool is celebrating with Cardigan as he is still blinded. Cardigan makes the tag into Kip, and the two begin beating up on Dr. Cool. Dr. Cool is able to finally tag in Fitzpatrick.

Kip takes the fight to Fitzpatrick, but thanks to a distraction by Dr. Cool, Fitzpatrick is able to gain the upper hand. Fitzpatrick and Dr. Cool tag in and out and continue to beat up on Kip and prevent him from tagging out.

Kip is finally able to tag in Cardigan. Cardigan immediately comes in and drinks his coffee. He comes in hot and takes out Fitzpatrick. He hits a cutter on Fitzpatrick and pins him for a two-count. Dr. Cool gets involved again and takes out Cardigan from behind. Fitzpatrick goes to pin Cardigan, but Kip makes the save this time.

Kip and Cardigan hit a double team move on both Dr. Cool, and Pat Fitzpatrick. Cardigan calls for a double chokeslam on both Dr. Cool and Fitzpatrick, and thanks to Kip pouring coffee in his mouth, he is able to hit the double chokeslam. Cardigan then pins Dr. Cool to pick up the three-count and victory.

WINNERS: “KING OF NEW YORK” PHIL CARDIGAN AND FRANCIS KIP STEVENS

“ABSOLUTE” ALVIN ALVAREZ VS DR. SLEEP ANTHONY GANGONE

Alvin Alvarez makes his way down to the ring first. However, Silk E. Smooth makes his way out next. Smooth says that the Giant Andre doesn’t think Alvarez is worthy of a match with him, but he found something for him and brings out Dr. Sleep Anthony Gangone.

Gangone takes his time on the outside in the early going, as he doesn’t want to face off with Alvarez right away. The match starts with a lock-up and the match quickly spills to the outside. Gangone and Alvarez fight on the outside in the early stages of the match. Alvin sends Gangone back into the ring and continues to beat him up.

Alvarez hits a body slam followed by a leg drop and is in firm control of the match. However, thanks to a distraction by Smooth, Gangone is now in the driver’s seat of the match. Gangone locks a submission move onto Alvarez, but Alvarez is able to fight his way out. Alvarez hits a big clothesline on Gangone, turning him inside out.

Alvarez follows this up with a big splash onto Gangone. Smooth once again makes the save and gets involved. Gangone gets the cane from Smooth and hits Alvarez over the head with it. Gangone follows that up with a DDT for a two-count.

Gangone makes his way to the top rope, but Alvarez counters Gangone’s high-risk move. Alvarez is able to lock in a submission move of his own and make Gangone tap to win the match.

WINNER: “ABSOLUTE” ALVIN ALVAREZ

After the match, Kaide Lothbrok jumps Alvarez from behind. Kaide starts taking out VPW officials as well. VPW Commissioner Kevin Fulton comes down and gets into the face of Kaide. Fulton tells Kaide to leave, or he will be suspended indefinitely. Kaide attacks Fulton, but Alvarez gets back up and throws Kaide out of the ring.

Commissioner Fulton then announces that on June 11th at Under Pressure, we will see Kaide take on “Absolute” Alvin Alvarez. Kaide gets thrown out but makes his way back and hits Alvarez with a stunner before leaving under his own power.
