“After 465 days, two knee surgeries, and hundreds of hours of PT, your girl is finally back in the ring,” LeVangie said in a recent post. “I couldn’t be happier to be back [in wrestling] and I feel better than ever.”

Behind the mask he wears to the ring, JJ Doze has faced a deeply personal journey. Describing himself as someone who has long been plagued by self-doubt and insecurity, Doze’s life has been marked by moments of feeling ignored and lost—hence the nickname. For much of his life, he has been his own harshest critic, constantly struggling with feelings of inadequacy.

Yet, despite the battles raging within, JJ Doze is far from giving up. He has channeled his inner turmoil into a mission for personal growth, aiming to rise above his doubts and insecurities to reach new heights, both in the ring and in life. His signature mantra, “Find The Light,” reflects his ongoing journey to discover a sense of purpose and inner peace.

JJ’s journey to professional wrestling started as a way to escape reality—a place where, for a moment, he could leave his struggles behind. In the ring, he is not defined by his mental health battles or self-doubts, but by the strength, skill, and determination he brings to each match. The fans who cheer him on, who believe in him, are part of the fuel that keeps him going. “Pro wrestling is my escape from reality,” he says. “When I’m out there, I don’t think about my problems.”

Growing up, JJ found inspiration in the unlikeliest of heroes—WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. Watching an undersized athlete thrive in a world dominated by larger-than-life competitors gave JJ hope that he, too, could succeed. “Rey Mysterio showed me that it’s possible for someone like me to make an impact,” he reflects.

JJ’s road to the ring officially began at House of Glory, where he was trained by the legendary Amazing Red. Under Red’s guidance, Doze developed the technical skills and mental toughness needed to compete in the world of professional wrestling. But beyond the physical preparation, wrestling gave him something more: a sense of belonging. In wrestling, he found a world where his flaws were accepted and even understood.

Now, with each match, JJ Doze isn’t just fighting his opponent—he’s fighting to inspire others who may be struggling with the same battles he faces. He aims to be a beacon of hope for those who, like him, have felt lost. Can you tell us a bit about your background?

“Of course! I am a proud 26-year-old Bundjalung woman. Our tribe is located on the South East Queensland coast, ranging from Beenleigh to Grafton in New South Wales and as far inland as Warwick. Both of my parents are of Indigenous descent. Growing up in this rich cultural environment has deeply influenced who I am today.”

How has your heritage influenced your wrestling style?

“My people have a history of being stoic and intense warriors. We’re diplomatic first, but we never back down from a fight. I strive to emulate these traits in my matches. My style is very much about being stoic and intense, and I work as a technical brawler. With my new gear, which features artworks by my cousin, I carry stories of the women of our country into the ring with me.”

What first got you into wrestling?

“I grew up watching wrestling with my older cousins, but it was the WrestleMania XXVI match between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker, the Streak vs. Career match, that really solidified my dream to become a wrestler. I was 12 then, and I knew this was what I wanted to do.”

Did you have any other sports interests growing up?

“Yes, I dabbled in Karate, Muay Thai, and boxing. While they were great for building a strong foundation, none of them ignited my passion quite like wrestling did.”

How did you start your wrestling career?

“In 2016, at 18, I had a chance meeting with Diamond Dallas Page. His support and encouragement were pivotal. Shortly after, I found a local wrestling school and company, which coincidentally was the same one Toni Storm started with. From there, I did everything I could to learn and grow.”

How do you feel about touring internationally for the first time?

“I’m excited and open to touring anywhere. This international tour is a new chapter for me, and I’m thrilled that Victory Pro Wrestling was the first company I connected with. It feels like the start of something special.”
