BAY SHORE, N.Y. – For Brother Greatness, the New York State Championship has never been just another title. It has been a dream years in the making.

Long before he stepped inside a Victory Pro Wrestling ring as a competitor, Brother Greatness was learning the business from behind the scenes. As a VPW intern in 2012, he watched some of the promotion’s most respected stars battle for the prestigious New York State Championship. Names such as VSK, Ricky Reyes, Kevin Fulton and Kai Katana helped define the championship’s legacy, and Brother Greatness envisioned one day joining that elite company.

Since making his in-ring debut for VPW in 2021, that goal has remained firmly in his sights. Now, at Battle in Bay Shore 4 on Saturday, June 13, at Pro Game Sports, he finally gets the opportunity he has been chasing for more than a decade.

Standing in his way is one of the most dominant champions in recent VPW history.

Ever since defeating Jack Tomlinson at Battle in Bay Shore 3 last year, Rex Lawless has transformed the New York State Championship into his personal proving ground. The self-proclaimed Pectoral Poseidon has welcomed all challengers through his Rex Lawless Open Challenge and has turned away every opponent who has stepped forward.

Earlier this week at Legion of Honor, Lawless successfully defended the championship against JGeorge. That victory added to an impressive list of defeated challengers that includes Ken Powers, Sebastian Amor, Bobby Buffet, Mike Zee, Franco Costanzo, Bobby Casale, Evil Kip, Georgio Lawrence and Zakk Ramses.

With momentum on his side and a lengthy list of successful title defenses behind him, Lawless enters Bay Shore as the favorite. But Brother Greatness is not interested in history repeating itself. He is determined to fulfill the destiny he envisioned years ago.

Will the champion continue his reign of dominance, or will Brother Greatness finally capture the championship he has pursued for so long?

What will happen when Victory Pro Wrestling returns to Bay Shore for Battle in Bay Shore 4?

Two major matches have already been signed for the milestone show.

  • Committed to Excellence will receive another opportunity to challenge Security Inc for the VPW Tag Team Championships. After the controversial ending to their last encounter, management has added a major stipulation. If the match ends in a disqualification, the championships can change hands.
  • Another rivalry set to continue involves former partners turned bitter enemies. Azure and Steve Somerset erupted into a wild fight at VPW TWENTY that spilled throughout the building and required the locker room to separate them. Now the two will meet in an official match at Battle in Bay Shore 4 as their deeply personal feud continues to escalate.
