Victory Pro Wrestling’s Women’s Division is heating up this summer, and with the VPW Women’s Championship on the line at the Gold Rush Rumble this August, a new name is poised to shake things up.
Meet Kate Thorn — or as she likes to call herself, “The Thorn In Your Side.” A fiery upstart with charisma, grit, and a splash of humor, Thorn will make her VPW debut at Summer Showdown in one of two qualifying matches to determine who will advance to compete for the vacant VPW Women’s Championship.
While she may be new to the Victory Pro Wrestling audience, she’s no stranger to the grind.
“I’ve been dancing since I was four and did gymnastics for two years,” Thorn shared. “I’m currently getting a degree in dance while also pursuing wrestling. My motto? ‘Why pick one when you can have both?’”

That relentless ambition is part of what’s quickly made Thorn a standout in promotions like Battlefield Pro Wrestling, WDWA in West Virginia, Belle 2 Bell, and Outlaw Wrestling, among others.
Her journey into wrestling has deep family roots. “My Pop-Pop always had wrestling on TV when I came over,” she said. “It was something we really bonded over, and when he passed, I stepped away from it—until one day, my parents put it on again. Turns out one of their early dates was watching WrestleMania X-Seven at the WWF restaurant in Times Square. That connection came full circle.”
Soon after, Battlefield Pro Wrestling opened up just 35 minutes from home, and a tour of the facility sealed the deal. “I immediately fell in love with the place and the magic of wrestling. I’m here because of family. Without their love—for me and wrestling—I wouldn’t be chasing this dream.”
And she’s chasing it with full force. With her debut fast approaching, Thorn admits there’s a mix of nerves and adrenaline backstage.

“I normally have a panic attack or two,” she laughed, “but then I lock in. I remind myself I busted my butt to be here. I do this to inspire the kids in the crowd. I want to show the world that women’s wrestling is hardcore and belongs in the spotlight.”
Before hitting the curtain, she drops to the ground for three pushups — “Three’s my favorite number,” she said — takes a deep breath, and then explodes through the entrance with a fireball’s energy.
As for the name?
“I was in the Popeyes drive-thru,” she laughed. “I told my mom I liked the name ‘Thorn’ because I could use a bunch of fun phrases with it. She randomly said, ‘Kate,’ probably because she was thinking about her email address. And it just clicked. Kate Thorn — it stuck!”
While she’s still early in her career — her first match was just last November — Thorn is already setting her sights high. Her dream opponent? AEW’s Dr. Britt Baker.
“She showed me I could chase both of my careers at once and succeed in both. We’re both determined, both driven. I think she’d be the perfect opponent to push me further and show the world why I’m the thorn in your side!”
Kate Thorn makes her VPW debut Saturday, July 12, at Summer Showdown in Bay Shore. Will this rising star punch her ticket to the Gold Rush Rumble and a chance to be the next Victory Pro Wrestling Women’s Champion?
One thing’s for sure — the spotlight is calling, and Kate Thorn is ready to rise.
