BAY SHORE, N.Y. — The New York State Championship will be front and center Friday, March 13, as Victory Pro Wrestling presents VPW Before the Storm in Bay Shore.
Since capturing the New York State Championship, Rex Lawless has not taken the safe route. Instead, he launched an open challenge to ignite what he calls a new era for the title. Month after month, contender after contender has stepped forward, each looking to test themselves against one of the most dominant champions in VPW.
Zakk Ramses answered the call. So did Georgio Lawrence, Evil Kip, Bobby Casale, Franco Costanzo and Mike Zee. Each brought a different style and a different strategy. Each left having felt the power of Lawless.
Now, a new challenger emerges, but this time there is history.
Sebastian Amor, who debuted in VPW in 2023, has struggled on his path but picked up a couple of key victories, including wins over Evil Kip and Zakk Ramses, two men who also sought to dethrone Lawless. Amor has quietly developed into a serious threat, blending athleticism with confidence that continues to grow every time he steps through the curtain.
At Before the Storm, Amor becomes the first officially announced challenger of Lawless’ latest open challenge defense. Unlike others who answered without warning, this matchup gives both men time to prepare. That familiarity could change everything.
Lawless thrives on pressure and has made a habit of turning back hungry challengers. But with King of New York David Graham looming as a potential future contender, the stakes grow even higher. A dominant victory keeps Lawless’ momentum intact. A loss reshapes the entire championship picture heading into the spring.
