BAY SHORE, N.Y. — One of the most anticipated matches scheduled for VPW TWENTY: Blood Sweat and 20 Years has been thrown into uncertainty.
Victory Pro Wrestling officials confirmed that Mister Tibbs will not be medically cleared to compete on Saturday, April 18 in Bay Shore, forcing the promotion to pull the legendary competitor from his scheduled match against the dangerous and unpredictable Azure.
The announcement comes after weeks of tension between the two competitors.
At Before the Storm, Azure ignited controversy when he confronted Tibbs in the ring, turning what was supposed to be a major announcement into a heated confrontation. The situation quickly escalated as Azure got physical with Commissioner Kevin Fulton before engaging in a wild brawl with the VPW legend.
The altercation ended with Tibbs demanding a match against Azure at VPW TWENTY, determined to defend the legacy he helped build inside Victory Pro Wrestling.
Unfortunately for Tibbs, that opportunity will have to wait.
Medical officials have ruled that Tibbs will not be cleared to compete at the anniversary event, removing one of the most decorated figures in company history from the card. The news has forced VPW management to act quickly as they search for a replacement opponent capable of standing across the ring from one of the most volatile competitors on the roster.
Azure, meanwhile, has shown no signs of slowing down.
Since shocking the locker room by attacking his former tag team partner Steve Somerset, Azure has carved a destructive path through the singles division. His aggressive style and unpredictable attitude have made him one of the most feared competitors in VPW, and his willingness to target anyone in his path has left the locker room on edge.
Despite Tibbs being scratched from the event, Azure will still compete at VPW TWENTY.
Commissioner Fulton has confirmed that a replacement opponent is already being considered, though the identity of that competitor remains a closely guarded secret. Fulton hinted that he has someone specific in mind, but has chosen to keep that decision private until the moment is right.
