BAY SHORE, NY — The 2025 Gold Rush Rumble promised high stakes, shocking twists, and unforgettable moments — and it delivered on all fronts. From surprise changes to controversial finishes, every match had the crowd buzzing.
First or Last: David Graham vs. JJ Doze
The night kicked off with high stakes — winner enters the Rumble at No. 20, loser starts at No. 1. Before the bell even rang, “The Veteran” David Graham blindsided JJ Doze outside the ring, setting the tone for a brutal fight. Both men traded momentum, but when Doze went for a victory roll, Graham reversed it and stole the win. Graham secured the coveted final entry, while Doze was left with the toughest road imaginable.
VPW Women’s Championship: Triple Threat Elimination Match featuring The Unwilting Tatiana, Tiphani Grady and Kate Thorn
Originally slated to be Temptatious Tiphani Grady vs. Kate Thorn vs. The Unwilting Tatiana, the bout took a wild turn when Tatiana didn’t appear. Instead, former champion Valerie Verman entered the match, determined to reclaim her gold she never officially won.
Verman and Grady teamed up early to wear down Thorn, but the “Thorn in Your Side” fought back hard, pinning Verman for the first elimination. Just as Thorn seemed poised to win, Valerie returned the favor with a distraction, allowing Grady to capitalize and score the victory. Tiphani Grady is now your new VPW Women’s Champion.
New York State Championship: Champion Rex Lawless vs. Georgio Lawrence
Rex Lawless shocked the crowd by issuing an open challenge. The call was answered by “The Specialist” Georgio Lawrence, who brought everything he had to the fight. Speed, technique, and resilience kept Lawrence in it, but in the end, the champion’s size and raw power proved too much. Lawless retained in convincing fashion — but the challenge showed the VPW roster that he’s willing to face anyone from anywhere.
VPW Tag Team Championships: Even Stevens (c) vs. Cain Industries vs. Security Inc
Security Inc earned their title shot fair and square, but thanks to Steve Somerset’s request, Cain Industries were added to the match after their Summer Showdown ambush. The result? Pure chaos.
Bodies flew, tempers flared, and grudges boiled over as all three teams fought for dominance. After a mistake in the match from Adam Cain, Anthony Gangone attacked his partner, leaving him in the ring and leaving Silk E Smooth in utter panic. In the end, the Even Stevens walked away still champions — but with Security Inc furious at VPW management, the VPW Tag Team division is more volatile than ever.
The 2025 Gold Rush Rumble
Twenty men, one golden opportunity — and a shocking ending nobody saw coming.
JJ Doze and Evil Kip started the match, with entries including Bobby Casale, Geronimo, Stan Michael, Alvin Alvarez, Jay Vara, ABBS, Kalypto, Samwell Thompson, Clara Carreras, Mantequilla, Adam Kirkland, Vic Vendetta, The Artist Formerly Known as Dash, El Terrifico, The Last Bronx Italian Franco Costanzo, Boom Harden, Shotgun Adams, and at #20 — David Graham.
Highlights & Eliminations:
- ABBS strutted in bragging about his “real abs” — only to be humiliated and tossed by Kip.
- Adam Kirkland made an immediate impact, eliminating both Casale and Geronimo at once.
- Valerie Verman, not an official entrant, attacked Clara Carreras, sparking a chain of eliminations: Clara & Kalypto first dumped Valerie, Samwell eliminated Mantequilla, then Kalypto eliminated Clara. The Primadonnas fought ManteChica to the back after they were eliminated.
- Franco Costanzo drew massive boos after eliminating Dash.
- Alvin Alvarez made a statement return, tossing Jay Vara and Vic Vendetta together.
- The Final Four: JJ Doze, Evil Kip, Alvin Alvarez, and David Graham
- Alvin Alvarez clutched his knee after giving Evil Kip a spinebuster. Last year, he did the same move to JJ Doze which disqualified him from the match due to injury and sent Alvin to the sidelines for a year.
- David Graham eliminated Kip while Alvin was being tended to by the medical team, leading to JJ Doze tossing Graham over the top.
Just as Doze was announced the winner, Alvin stormed back to the ring. Never being eliminated from the match, Alvin was still officially in the match! Alvin attacked Doze and accused him of “never calling” and “never caring” before throwing him out to steal the victory.
Alvin Alvarez is the 2025 Gold Rush Rumble winner — but the way he did it has the VPW locker room, and fans, split down the middle as the VPW Faithful were left stunned at Pro Game Sports before leaving.
This year’s Gold Rush Rumble proved that in VPW, the only guarantee is the unexpected. Rivalries have intensified, new champions have been crowned, and Alvin Alvarez now holds a golden opportunity that could reshape the company’s future.
What will happen when Victory Pro Wrestling returns to Bay Shore in October for Haunted Ground? Tickets will go on sale Monday August 18 at 9am.
But before that, VPW packs our bags and heads back to Connecticut! With Alvin Alvarez and JJ Doze in the same place at the same time, things are surely about to explode in Portland!!
