VPW made its Riverhead debut with a night filled with rivalries, controversy and major implications for the upcoming Gold Rush Rumble. The main event featured VPW Champion Anthony Gangone defending the championship against Alvin Alvarez inside a steel cage, where one man looked to cement his legacy while the other fought to keep his championship dreams alive.
Mike Anthony def. Sebastian Amor
Mike Anthony opened the evening by earning an impressive victory over the crafty Sebastian Amor.
Amor relied on experience and ring awareness throughout the contest, frustrating Anthony with timely counters and calculated offense. Anthony remained composed, weathering every challenge before shifting the momentum late in the match.
After surviving Amor’s veteran tactics, Anthony capitalized on an opening and delivered the decisive offense to score the pinfall victory. The win continued Anthony’s recent momentum and provided a strong start to the evening.
Unwilting Tatiana and VPW Women’s Champion Amity LaVey def. Latina Spice Nat Castle and The Monster Kalypto
VPW Women’s Champion Amity LaVey joined forces with Unwilting Tatiana to defeat Latina Spice Nat Castle and The Monster Kalypto in tag team action.
The four competitors traded momentum throughout a physical contest that showcased the growing tension between Kalypto and the rest of the women’s division. LaVey and Tatiana found their rhythm late in the match, combining for the victory.
Following the match, Kalypto attacked her own partner, Nat Castle, leaving her laid out in the ring. During an interview with Willie Thrill, Kalypto declared she was calling out the entire VPW locker room before officially announcing her entry into the Gold Rush Rumble.
Ken Powers def. Bobby Buffet
Ken Powers outlasted Bobby Buffet in a hard-hitting battle between two of VPW’s biggest competitors.
Neither man gave an inch as both relied on strength and power to control the pace. Buffet delivered several impressive offensive bursts, but Powers answered each challenge with resilience.
After a grueling exchange, Powers connected with his finishing offense to secure the pinfall and continue building momentum heading toward the Gold Rush Rumble.
Security Inc. def. ManteChica
Security Inc. earned the No. 1 contender spot for the VPW Tag Team Championship by defeating ManteChica.
Before the match, VPW Commissioner Kevin Fulton informed both teams that the bout had been upgraded, with the winners receiving a championship opportunity against Committed to Excellence at the Gold Rush Rumble.
ManteChica made a convincing case inside the ring, nearly securing the victory on multiple occasions. The tide turned when Moses secretly used pepper spray, blinding the opposition without the referee’s knowledge. The illegal advantage allowed Security Inc. to steal the victory and become the top contenders.
Rex Lawless def. Brooklyn Outlaw Mike Donovan
Rex Lawless defeated Brooklyn Outlaw Mike Donovan after an energetic contest.
Donovan brought his trademark aggression and refused to back down, but Lawless answered with a combination of power and athleticism that ultimately proved too much to overcome.
Known as the Pectoral Poseidon, Lawless secured the victory after putting Donovan away with his finishing maneuver.
Following the match, Lawless announced that he had officially entered the Gold Rush Rumble, adding another dangerous competitor to the field.
VPW New York State Champion David Graham def. Dante Drago
VPW New York State Champion David Graham retained his championship against former titleholder Dante Drago under controversial circumstances.
Drago appeared more focused on campaigning than winning, allowing Graham opportunities to dictate portions of the contest. At one point, Graham disappeared beneath the ring before surprising Drago with an attack from behind.
The decisive moment came when Silk E Smooth distracted the referee. With the official’s attention diverted, Graham struck Drago with the New York State Championship belt before scoring the pinfall. The victory allowed Graham to retain the title, but not without raising questions about how he accomplished it.
VPW Champion Anthony Gangone def. Alvin Alvarez in a Steel Cage Match
VPW Champion Anthony Gangone retained the VPW Championship by escaping the steel cage against Alvin Alvarez in a brutal main event.
The scheduled cage match barely waited for the opening bell, as Gangone and Alvarez immediately brawled around ringside before finally taking the fight inside the structure. Both competitors delivered a punishing performance, knowing the future of the championship hung in the balance.
As the battle intensified, Gangone padlocked the cage door to eliminate any chance of escape through the entrance. With both men exhausted, the champion climbed over the top of the cage and reached the floor to retain the title.
Following the match, VPW Owner John E Radioo and Commissioner Kevin Fulton reminded Alvarez that, under the pre-match stipulation, he can no longer challenge for the VPW Championship as long as Gangone remains champion. They also confirmed Alvarez is ineligible to enter the Gold Rush Rumble, officially closing the chapter on one of VPW’s longest-running rivalries.
