On Saturday, April 12th, Victory Pro Wrestling returned to Pro Game Athletics in Bay Shore, NY, for the biggest show of the year, “Blood, Sweat, and 19 Years.” This event marked the 19th anniversary of VPW. The main event featured Jack Tomlinson defending the New York State Championship against Evil Kip.

The new Victory Pro Wrestling Champion, Bryce Donovan, opened the show. Donovan welcomed the crowd to the 19th anniversary of Victory Pro Wrestling. He issued an open challenge and declared that he wanted to give an opportunity to someone who had never received a shot at the VPW Championship. He then announced a triple threat match between three competitors, with the winner receiving a title shot on June 7th.

#1 CONTENDER FOR VPW CHAMPIONSHIP:

DAVID GRAHAM def. SAMWELL THOMPSON (w/ VALERIE VERMAN) & JJ DOZE

  • The triple threat match kicked off the show, featuring David Graham, Samwell Thompson, and JJ Doze—three competitors who had never had a chance at the VPW Championship.
  • Graham exited the ring to start, trying to bait Thompson and Doze into fighting each other. All three men attempted quick pinfalls before Graham took control by taking Doze down on the apron.
  • Graham and Thompson briefly teamed up to beat down Doze, but tensions soon flared. Thompson gained the upper hand until Doze turned the tide with a crossbody on Graham and back-to-back dives to the outside on opposite sides of the ring. He followed up with a frog splash on Graham, but Thompson broke up the pin.
  • Thompson took control and hit a backbreaker on Graham for a near fall. As Silk E. Smooth came to ringside to scout talent, the action intensified. Ultimately, Graham hit his finisher on Thompson and scored the pinfall.
  • The match for the VPW Championship on June 7th—David Graham vs. Bryce Donovan—was made official.

Post-Match: Donovan and Graham had a tense staredown. Graham shoved Donovan, who attempted a chokeslam, but Graham escaped and left as Donovan posed with the VPW Championship.

THE BODY SNATCHERS (GOD OF DAD BOD & MARVELOUS) def. THE WORKING CLASS (DIEGO EL TRABAJADOR & THE SWEEPER EDDIE PREVETE)

  • A win here could have launched either team into the VPW Tag Team Championship picture. Marvelous and The Sweeper started things off, with Prevete landing a pair of arm drags.
  • Marvelous tagged in God of Dad Bod, who was distracted looking for his missing shirt. A tug-of-war over the shirt ended poorly for The Body Snatchers, as The Working Class gained the upper hand.
  • God of Dad Bod pulled Prevete outside, allowing Marvelous to isolate El Trabajador and tag in his powerhouse partner. They dominated El Trabajador with tandem offense.
  • El Trabajador eventually dodged a double-team move and tagged in Prevete, who ran wild. However, miscommunication between The Working Class allowed The Body Snatchers to hit their finisher on Prevete and win the match.

Post-Match: Prevete shoved El Trabajador and walked out. Moments later, Adam Kirkland stormed the ring and ambushed El Trabajador, leaving him laid out before escaping through the crowd.

NAT CASTLE def. JOURNEY BURKE & LA PEGASA

  • This triple threat could determine a future contender for the VPW Women’s Championship. Nat Castle came out to a mixed reaction; Journey Burke was met with boos, while La Pegasa was the clear crowd favorite.
  • Pegasa started strong, fending off an early double-team from Castle and Burke. She showed off impressive offense, including a Samoan Drop on Castle for a two-count.
  • Burke interfered, leading to a renewed alliance with Castle. However, their double-pin attempt caused friction. Castle eventually took out Burke with a barrage of strikes.
  • Pegasa rallied, but Burke caught her mid-air. Pegasa reversed into a near fall, but Castle threw spice in Burke’s face and landed her finisher for the win.

ERIC JAMES def. REX LAWLESS

  • The match opened with a lighthearted “pec-off,” as Lawless was introduced as the “Pectoral Poseidon.” Things turned serious after Lawless took control with a big clothesline.
  • James hit a crossbody to the outside and later sent Lawless into the ring post three times in an attempt to win by count-out, but Lawless returned at eight.
  • Lawless landed several heavy strikes, including a cannonball in the corner. James rebounded with a top-rope elbow for two.
  • After more back-and-forth action, James hit a springboard cutter to secure the three-count.

BODY BAG MATCH FOR VPW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP:
THE UNFORGIVEN SALEM (c) def. VALERIE VERMAN (w/ SAMWELL THOMPSON)

  • In one of the most anticipated matches of the night, The Unforgiven Salem defended her title in a “Body Bag” match—victory could only be achieved by sealing your opponent inside a body bag.
  • Salem charged Verman immediately, taking the fight around the ring. Thompson interfered, allowing Verman to turn the momentum.
  • Verman used a kendo stick and trash can lid to wear Salem down and even introduced a pink body bag.
  • Despite double-teaming and interference, Salem fought back, landing a DDT on a trash can lid and taking out Thompson.
  • Salem sealed the win with a big knee and zipped Verman into the body bag to retain her title.

Post-Match: Salem struck Thompson with a kendo stick again, sending the crowd into a frenzy of cheers.

VPW NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONSHIP:
JACK TOMLINSON (c) vs. EVIL KIP ENDS IN DOUBLE DISQUALIFICATION

  • Tomlinson opened the match by declaring he was responsible for sidelining Brother Greatness. The action quickly spilled outside before Tomlinson regained control with a suplex.
  • Kip bit Tomlinson’s hand to shift the momentum but was met with a flurry of strikes. Both men collided mid-ring, leading to Kip hitting a double foot stomp for two.
  • A low blow exchange led to a double disqualification, meaning Tomlinson retained the New York State Championship despite the chaos.

JAY DELTA def. DEE VIBE

  • The crowd was firmly behind Vibe. Early action saw Vibe using his agility, but Delta slowed things down and punished him on the outside.
  • After slamming Vibe on the apron, Delta took control. Vibe tried to change the momentum with powder to the face, but Delta landed a clothesline to the back of the head for the win.

VPW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS:
EVEN STEVENS (STEPHEN AZURE & STEVE SOMERSET) (c) def. PICTURE PERFECT STUDIOS (JGEORGE & JAKE LANG w/ LADY KILLJOY)

  • Picture Perfect Studios entered to boos, while the Even Stevens were met with thunderous applause.
  • Somerset and Azure dominated early, but Picture Perfect Studios took over with help from Lady Killjoy, who even destroyed a fan’s sign.
  • After being isolated, Somerset finally tagged Azure, who cleaned house. A chaotic series of pin attempts followed.
  • Lady Killjoy tried to interfere again, pulling down Azure and later low-blowing Somerset. JGeorge hit a scissors kick for a near fall.
  • After Lang accidentally speared Killjoy, he tried to use a painting as a weapon but hit himself instead. The Even Stevens capitalized, hit their finisher on Lang, and retained the titles.
